CLMix for iOS
Your own monitor mix, on your own phone.
Free · works with the free CLMix desktop app · your network only
What it is
CLMix hands each performer their own monitor mix: level, pan and per-send mute for every input channel on the aux bus they are assigned to, adjusted from their iPhone or iPad wherever they are standing.
The app is a remote control, not a standalone mixer. It needs the free CLMix desktop app running on a Windows computer on the same network, connected to a supported digital mixing console. There is no CLMix account and no cloud service — the app talks to that computer and nowhere else.
What you'll need
- Desktop app
- The free CLMix app for Windows, running and connected to a supported digital mixing console — download it here.
- An account
- A username and password from whoever runs the desktop app. They create one for each performer; accounts are free.
- Network
- Your iPhone or iPad on the same Wi-Fi network as that computer.
- iOS
- iOS 17 or later.
Getting connected
-
Step 1
Allow local network
Open CLMix and tap Allow when iOS asks to find devices on your local network. Without it the app cannot reach the desktop app.
-
Step 2
Pick your server
Tap it under Discovered, or tap Manual and enter the computer's address and port (8765 unless it has been changed).
-
Step 3
Log in and mix
Enter the username and password you were given, then choose your mix.
What it does
-
Their mix, not the mix
Mute is the console's per-send on/off, so muting a channel drops it out of your mix only — never out of the room.
-
Full mixer control
An account can instead be trusted with the console's own channel faders, pans and mutes, and with each channel's input stage — gain, trim, 48V, polarity and the channel name. You are asked which you want right after logging in, and only if you have been granted it.
-
Meters
A post-fader meter beside every fader, with stereo channels drawn as two bars.
-
Fine mode
A precision drag for small level changes, when a phone-sized fader is not enough travel.
-
Presets
Save a mix under a name and pull it back later, if your account is allowed to.
-
Stays logged in
A session survives the app being closed and relaunched, and ages out on its own once it stops being used.
-
Light and dark
Follows your phone's setting, or pick one from the menu.
Troubleshooting
- Can't Reach Server
- Check that the desktop app is running, that you are on the same Wi-Fi as that computer, and that CLMix is switched on under Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.
- Nothing under Discovered
- Some networks block the traffic discovery relies on. Tap Manual and enter the computer's IP address and port instead.
- No Snapshot Access
- Your account is limited to a different snapshot than the one recalled on the console right now. Ask whoever runs the desktop app.
- Access denied
- Your account is not allowed to change that mix, or to use presets. Ask whoever runs the desktop app.
- Mixer not connected
- The desktop app is running but is not talking to the console at the moment. Try again shortly.
- No “Choose your control” after logging in
- Full mixer control is a per-account permission, and is off unless it has been granted. Without it you go straight to your own mix, which is how the app has always worked.
- Gain and trim read a dash
- The console has not reported that channel's input stage yet. The dials stay greyed out until it does, rather than showing a value it never sent.
- No Mute, Pan or Presets
- Mute and Presets are per-account permissions. Pan is hidden on a mono mix, which has no left and right to pan between.
- Asked to log in again
- Sessions end after a while unused, when the desktop app restarts, or when you log out.
Privacy
CLMix collects nothing. There is no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting, and no server the developer operates. The app connects only to the CLMix desktop app on your own network.
